Your Paper Rocket. Fold Your Way Up High!

Do you know the feeling when you look up at the sky and wonder what it's like up there? Real rockets fly to the stars. Yours will stay on Earth, but it can fly. And really well. Just from a piece of paper. You don't need glue, no scissors. Just your fingers, a bit of patience, and at the end, a straw. You can actually launch your rocket at the end. With puff power! Maybe even have a little flying contest against your parents, friends, or siblings?

What you'll need

1 square piece of paper
1 straw

How it works

Place your square with one point facing you. Fold it in half to create a triangle. Open it again. Now fold the other diagonal to form a triangle again. Open it once more.
Now your paper looks like a big X. Then fold the square in half again, this time to create a rectangle. Open it back up.
Now comes the magic. Pinch the sides with two fingers on the right and left. They should meet. The paper will almost automatically form a triangle shape. The point should be facing up. The open side is at the bottom.
Take the right side (only the top layer!) and fold it towards the center. Do the same with the left side. Now your rocket looks a bit like a kite. Carefully turn your rocket over. Repeat the same steps.
Now fold all four open sides back outwards again.
Finally, take the inner tip and fold it outwards towards the long edge. Carefully shape the body of your rocket so that it is no longer flat but looks like a rocket.
Insert the straw into the opening at the bottom. Now hold the straw in front of your mouth and then: Take a deep breath. Blow hard! And... WHOOSH! The rocket shoots through the air! In the app, you will find more ideas where you can tinker, fold, and discover.
