DIY Shell Vase with Modeling Clay
You can easily create a special vase from an old bottle, some modeling clay, and your favorite shells. Each vase looks different and becomes a true one-of-a-kind piece. This craft idea is perfect for shells collected from your vacation or last outing. You can also use small stones, beads, or other treasures. It's especially fun to decorate the modeling clay with your own ideas.
What you'll need
- an empty glass bottle
- air-drying modeling clay
- shells
- small stones or beads
- possibly craft glue
- a work surface
How it works
-
Thoroughly rinse the empty bottle and, if possible, remove all labels. Then dry the bottle well. Knead the modeling clay with your hands until it's soft. Press the modeling clay piece by piece around the bottle.
-
Gently press your shells into the still soft modeling clay. You can also add small stones, beads, or other treasures.
-
Place the vase in a safe spot and let the modeling clay dry completely. The drying time is usually indicated on the packaging.
-
If a shell comes loose after drying, you can simply reattach it with a bit of craft glue.
-
Your homemade shell vase is ready. It makes a great summer decoration, a memory of your vacation, or a small gift.
