Make an Octopus from an A4 Sheet
With a sheet of paper, you can create a cheerful octopus with many arms. While folding, cutting, and rolling, you'll practice your fine motor skills and learn to work carefully. Then, draw the suckers and give your octopus its own face. Every octopus looks different. Maybe it's curious, brave, or particularly funny? Think of a name and invent a little story. Where does your octopus live? What animals does it meet in the sea? This activity encourages imagination, creativity, and language while introducing you to an exciting sea creature.
What you'll need
- 1 A4 sheet of paper
- Scissors
- Glue stick
- Colored pencils or felt-tip pens
- Wiggly eyes
- Black pen for the face
How it works

Fold your A4 sheet in half lengthwise. Press the fold firmly. This will become the body of your octopus. Cut many strips from one side, stopping just before the fold. These strips will be the arms of your octopus.

Draw many small circles on each arm. These are the suckers. A real octopus uses them to hold on and catch prey.

Apply glue to the top, uncut part and stick the two sides together. Now your octopus has its head.

Carefully roll each arm around a pencil or with your fingers. The suckers should be clearly visible on the outside.

Draw eyes, a mouth, and maybe rosy cheeks on your octopus. Should it look happy, surprised, or cheeky? That's up to you.

Give your octopus a name. Where does it live? Does it have friends or go on an adventure? Tell your story or write it down. This will bring your craft idea to life.
