Have you ever been reading an exciting book and suddenly had to stop? And just like that, the page is lost! With this DIY corner bookmark, that won't happen anymore. You fold a square piece of paper into a small bookmark that you simply place on the corner of the page. It keeps your place and looks really cool. In the end, you can even give your bookmark a face. Maybe with sharp teeth like a monster, or with a big smile. While folding, you train your fingers, your thinking, and your patience. You'll see: step by step, it gets easier. And when decorating, you can show what you're made of. This makes reading even more fun, and your book gets a new friend!

What you'll need

  • A square piece of paper
  • Pens for coloring
  • Optional: Stickers or googly eyes
  • Colored construction paper
  • A pair of scissors and glue

How it works

  1. Place the square in front of you. Fold it diagonally to form a triangle. Press the edge down firmly. Unfold it. Fold the square diagonally in the other direction. Open it again. Now you see a cross made of fold lines.

  2. Take two opposite corners. Fold them towards the center, right to the cross line. Press everything down firmly.

  3. Now fold the paper together to create a tulip shape.

  4. Fold the two outer corners inward into the pocket. Now your bookmark is held together.

  5. Draw a face on your bookmark. Eyes, mouth, teeth, or patterns. Create your own bookmark animal!
