Spooky Spider Web
Autumn is here, and it's the perfect time to craft together and explore nature. Here’s a fun idea on how to create your own spider web with a stick, some yarn, and pipe cleaners, complete with a spooky spider. It’s great for Halloween and brings the magic of autumn right into your home!
What you'll need
- Forked stick
- White yarn
- A pair of scissors
- 5 black pipe cleaners
How it works

Your adventure starts outside. Take a walk in the woods and look for a stick that looks like a big 'V'. This forked stick will be the frame for your spider web.

Once you’ve found the perfect stick, take it home. And if you find autumn leaves, chestnuts, or acorns, pick them up too; they could decorate your web later.

Now you need your yarn. White (or your favorite color) works best, as it looks especially spooky! Tie one end of the yarn to one end of the stick. Then stretch the yarn over to the other end, going back and forth. Just keep wrapping until the web looks nice and dense.

You need a spider for your web! Take five pipe cleaners and bend them in the middle so that all ends point outward. Twist the pipe cleaners together tightly in the middle three times. This will be the spider’s body. Bend four legs to the sides and the two front ends for the head.

Place your pipe cleaner spider in the middle of the web, and your decoration is complete! Spiders are real superheroes of nature! Did you know that spiders spin webs to catch their prey? The webs are sticky, and when an insect flies in, it gets stuck. Have fun crafting!
