In autumn, you can hear rustling in the leaves, and sometimes you spot a little hedgehog nose. Hedgehogs are special animals. They curl up when they're scared, and their spines act as a real shield. You’ve probably seen a hedgehog slowly wandering through the garden or looking for a cozy spot to hibernate. Today, you can make your own hedgehog using just a DIN A4 sheet. While folding and gluing, you'll practice precision, patience, and creativity. Your hedgehog will get lots of spikes through the accordion fold. In the end, you'll have an animal that you can paint or incorporate into a little story. This way, you combine crafting with imagination and learn fine motor skills and concentration in a playful manner.

What you'll need

DIN A4 sheets
Pens
A pair of scissors

How it works

Fold your DIN A4 sheet in half lengthwise and press the crease firmly.
Fold the left side about 10 cm over; this will be the head. Then open everything back up.
Cut off the small rectangle at the bottom left. This will make the head fit better.
Draw a nose, an eye, and two lines up to the crease for the head at the top left. Carefully cut out the head along the lines.
Fold the short side like an accordion until you reach the head. Then fold it in half and press well.
Bend the head into shape and glue the inner sides of the accordion together. Your hedgehog is ready!
Now you can get creative. Draw some leaves, make a hedgehog family, or invent an autumn story with your new companion.
