What you'll need

  • Basket
  • Various natural materials
  • Animal templates

How it works

  1. Put on comfortable clothes and grab a basket. Head to the park, the woods, or your garden. Make sure not to pick anything from living plants, but only take what is on the ground. Collect different natural materials like leaves, stones, branches, or moss.

  2. Think about which animal you want to recreate. Maybe you already have some favorite animals in mind. If not, check out the templates you can download here. There are many ideas: a butterfly, a spider, or even a hedgehog. Choose one and get started.

  3. Find a quiet spot outside where you want to create your animal. This could be a place on the grass or on a tree stump. Start by laying out the outline of the animal. You can use larger stones or thick branches for this. This will be the frame where you place everything later.

  4. Now comes the creative part! Fill in the outline of the animal with the materials you collected. Let your imagination run wild! There’s no right or wrong.

  5. Step back and admire your creations. You’ve just made something unique from nature! You might want to take a photo to remember it later.

  6. That was an exciting adventure in nature, wasn’t it? Now it’s your turn! Which animal will you create next?
