Mouse Picture Frame from Egg Carton & Cardboard
Imagine a little mouse peeking curiously out of a picture frame, with cheeky ears and a pointy nose. Today, you will create just that! You don't need to buy anything new. An empty egg carton and a piece of old cardboard are all you need. You will learn how to bring a figure to life with simple materials, how to combine colors, and find solutions on your own when things don't go as planned. In the end, you'll hold your very own mouse picture frame in your hands, perfect for hanging or gifting.
What you'll need
- An empty egg carton
- Cardboard
- Scissors
- Crayons
- White chalk marker
- Black felt tip pen
How it works

Take a close look at the egg carton. Do you see the pointy parts between the indentations? Perfect! That will be the head of your mouse. Carefully cut one of these points out. It will become the mouse's nose. The ears are on the left and right!

If the ears don't fit perfectly yet, you can round them off with scissors. If you want bigger ears, you can also cut out and glue on two round pieces from the egg carton. Now you have a real 3D mouse with ears and a nose.

Draw a rectangular picture frame on the cardboard. Cut out the frame. Glue the mouse head from the egg carton onto the cardboard. With the crayons, draw a body under the head. What does your mouse look like? Maybe your mouse will have a striped belly?

Draw the eyes and nose with a black pen on the egg carton. Decorate the frame with the chalk marker. Whether dots, patterns, or little mouse tracks, anything is possible.

And done! Your little mouse is now curiously peeking out of its picture frame. Hang your mouse picture frames up or gift them to someone. And if you're up for it, create a whole mouse family!
