Making Paper Snowflakes

Outside, the snow is falling, and inside, you can create your own winter wonderland! With paper cutting, you can make beautiful snowflakes. Perfect for the cold season. It’s fun, brings Christmas spirit into your home, and also boosts your creativity and patience. Each snowflake will be unique, just like the real ones that fall from the sky.

What you'll need

Square paper, white
Scissors
Pencil

How it works

Place your square paper in front of you. Fold it in half to create a rectangle. Make sure the edges line up neatly. Press the fold firmly. This will be the base for the next step.
Fold the rectangle in half again. Now you have a small square in front of you. Ensure the closed side is at the bottom. Press the fold firmly again to keep everything even.
Fold the small square diagonally to form a triangle. Make sure the closed side is at the bottom. Press the fold well so it’s nice and smooth.
Fold the triangle diagonally again to create an even smaller triangle. Ensure the closed side remains at the bottom.
Cut off the top tip of the triangle straight across. This will help your snowflake be symmetrical later. Then unfold the paper once more. Place the paper in front of you with the closed side on the left.
Draw a pattern with a pencil. Important: Do not cut everything on the closed side so your snowflake doesn’t fall apart. Carefully cut out your pattern with the scissors.
When you’re done, gently unfold your snowflake. Now comes the magical moment: Your handmade snowflake transforms into a real piece of art! Stick it on the windows. It will look like it’s snowing inside. Or use it as a gift tag.
