Make a Small Book from an A4 Sheet
An empty sheet of paper. A few folds. A small cut. And suddenly, you have your own book in your hands! It sounds almost like magic, right? But it's not sorcery; it's a simple folding technique that allows you to create a small book from a single sheet of paper. A book that you can fill with your own story, ideas, or drawings. Let's get started! Fold your own books!
What you'll need
- A4 sheet
- Scissors
- Various pens
How it works
-
Take an A4 sheet and lay it in front of you. Fold it once so that the short side meets the short side. Smooth the edge with your finger. Now you have a sheet half the size.
-
Place the folded sheet with the closed side facing you. Take one of the open sides and fold it back to the center line. Smooth the edge. Turn the sheet over and do the same with the other open side.
-
Now fold the sheet again in the middle so that the short sides meet. Smooth the edge.
-
Unfold the sheet. Now cut a piece from the closed side of the sheet. Caution! Do not cut all the way to the edge, just make a slit in the middle of the sheet. This slit will soon help turn the paper into a book.
-
Now comes the trick! Gently push the sides to the right and left. Now fold the sheet so that the short side meets the short side. Finally, fold it again, this time so that a small book with several pages is created.
-
Now you have eight pages that you can write on, paint, or stick things to. Create a story, draw a comic, or write a joke book. Your book, your rules!
