Make a Paper Advent Candle

Christmas is coming, and what can't be missing during Advent? That's right, candles! Would you like to make your own paper Advent candle? It won't burn, but it looks really cool, adds color to your room, and is super easy to make. Maybe you’ll even create four candles and place them on your homemade Advent wreath? So grab some scissors, paper, and glue. Let’s get creative!

What you'll need

2 strips of paper, about 3cm wide
Yellow and orange paper
Paper for the star
Scissors and glue
Templates

How it works

Cut a star out of paper. You can use the template or draw the star freehand.
Take the two strips of paper and glue them together at the bottom at a right angle, so they look like an 'L'. Now for the trick: Lay the strips alternately on top of each other. When you reach the top, glue the ends together. Now you have the body of your candle.
Glue the finished zigzag body to the center of your star. Make sure it’s secure. Now you have the first part of your Advent candle ready!
Cut a flame out of the yellow or orange paper. Glue the flame on top of the candle body. Tip: A small glue edge makes it easier to attach the flame securely to the candle.
Your Advent candle is ready! Now you can place it on your table, windowsill, or in your room. Maybe you’ll even make four candles and create your own Advent wreath? Or you can gift them to someone you want to surprise.
