  • Bowl of water

How it works

  1. Fill your bowl or sink with water. Imagine this is your huge, blue ocean. If you like, add a few drops of blue food coloring.

  2. Take the glass and hold it upside down. Now you have your own diving bell.

  3. Slowly submerge the glass in the water. Make sure the opening is always facing down. Look closely! The air in the glass stays put and doesn't let the water in.

  4. Place a small toy or crumpled paper inside the diving bell. Submerge it underwater and see if it stays dry.
