Imagine holding a white candle in your hand. Boring, right? But then you dip it into warm, colorful wax, and suddenly it becomes something truly special! Maybe it gets the colors of your favorite team, turns into a rainbow, or matches perfectly with someone you want to surprise? This way, your candle becomes not just a piece of art but also a great gift idea for friends or family. But be careful: Wax and water baths get very hot! An adult must operate the stove and supervise the melting process. Make sure not to touch the hot wax or pot to avoid burns. Safety first!

What you'll need

White taper candles
Old mason jars
Pot with water
White wax
Colorful wax crayons
Optional: Wax scraps
Baking paper for underneath
Wooden skewers

How it works

Fill the mason jars with white wax or wax scraps. Break the wax crayons into small pieces and place them in the jars. Each color gets its own jar. This way, you can try out many color combinations later. Prepare the jars for the water bath.
Fill the pot halfway with water and heat it over medium heat. Place the jars in the water and let the wax melt slowly. Stir gently until the colors are liquid.
Remove the pot from the heat. Slowly dip the candle into the liquid wax and carefully pull it out. Let the color layer dry briefly. For an ombre effect, dip the candle again into another color, but not as deep as the first time.
Is the color too pale? No problem! Just dip the candle back into the wax until you're satisfied with the color intensity. Or do you want multiple colors? Wait until the first layer is dry, then dip into another color!
Try diagonal stripes or color layers by dipping the candle in different ways. Turn it slightly or dip it multiple times in different colors. This way, you create unique designs.
Place the finished candles on baking paper and let them dry. Now look at your candles: What unique pieces of art! Maybe you want to give them away?
