Crafting a Blue Whale from Mussel Shells
Imagine you could create something beautiful from mussel shells. Today, you will transform mussel shells into an impressive blue whale! The blue whale is the largest animal on Earth and lives in the vast ocean. You have probably heard of it, but did you know that a blue whale can grow over 30 meters long? It mainly feeds on tiny sea creatures called krill. Despite its size, the blue whale is a gentle creature that can dive deep and comes to the surface to breathe. Use your imagination and craft your own blue whale from shell fragments.
What you'll need
- Glue (optional)
- Empty mussel shells
- Small broken shell pieces
How it works

Take a large mussel shell in your hand. This shell will be the body of your blue whale. Look closely at the shell and think about how you want your whale to look. You can use the natural shell to make the whale appear lively.

Choose small broken shell pieces to serve as fins. Try different arrangements to see which one you like best. You can simply place the fins next to the body or, if you want, attach them with glue.

Attach the small shells to the sides of the large shell. These will be the fins. Glue another small shell as a tail fin at the back. Press the shells gently and wait for the glue to dry.
