Colorful Foam Art
Are you looking for a fun and easy craft activity to try together at home? How about making your own colorful foam art? This project is perfect for an afternoon and adds color and fun to the mix. You only need a few simple materials that you probably already have at home.
What you'll need
- Empty plastic bottle
- A knife
- A rubber band
- Dish soap
- Water
- A bowl
- Food coloring
- Paper
- A surface cover
- An absorbent cloth or old sock
How it works
-
Take an old plastic bottle and cut off the bottom third. You should now have a sort of open cylinder. Important: Make sure an adult is present when working with dish soap or a knife.
-
Take a cloth and place it over the cut edge of the bottle. Secure the cloth tightly with a rubber band around the neck of the bottle so that no air can escape. The cloth should be taut to allow the foam to pass through later.
-
Now it gets colorful! Add a few drops of food coloring to the cloth.
-
Prepare the bowl with water and a few drops of dish soap. Dip the bottle briefly into the bowl so that the cloth gets wet but doesn't drip.
-
Blow through the bottle opening and watch colorful foam form!
-
Let the colorful foam flow into a container or directly onto a sheet of paper. You can move the foam on the paper to create different patterns and designs. Each piece will be unique!
-
And you're done! You now have a beautiful, colorful foam picture. Perfect for decorating your room or as a gift for someone special. Have fun crafting and experimenting!
