Have you ever wanted to have your own little shop? Here’s your chance! Let’s build a fantastic sales stand from simple fruit crates and some wood, where you can sell your homemade cookies, cakes, or refreshing lemonade! Tip: Make sure to choose the wood pieces for the counter in a size that fits the height and width of your fruit crates. If the wood pieces are too long, an adult can help you cut them to size. This way, your counter will fit perfectly with your sales stand!

What you'll need

6 fruit crates
2 pieces of wood for the counter
2 pieces of wood for the posts
Nails and hammer
or screws & cordless screwdriver
Signs and markers
Cloths for decoration
Vase and flowers
Ingredients for lemonade and more
Saw (adults only)

How it works

Stack the fruit crates into three towers, with two crates on top of each other. If you want to secure the crates, you can join them with nails or screws. Ask an adult to help you with this to avoid any injuries.
Now lay two matching pieces of wood across the top. The two large pieces of wood you have for your counter might be too long. This is definitely a job for an adult. Ask an adult to saw the wood pieces to the right length so they fit perfectly.
After you’ve built your counter, take the two other pieces of wood and stand them upright against the short sides of the counter. Secure them firmly with nails or screws. Make sure they stand stable. Now you have two perfect posts to attach a garland.
Now comes the creative part! With fabrics, cloths, and maybe a few freshly picked flowers, you can make your stand inviting. Remember to decorate your stand to your taste. It’s your little shop!
Now it’s time to get delicious! Bake your favorite cookies, a cake, or mix a refreshing lemonade. You might also want to paint a sign showing what you’re selling and how much it costs.
Now you’re ready for your first customers! Maybe they are your neighbors, friends, or family. Be friendly to your customers and have fun selling.
