A Paper Fish. Crafting, Thinking, Wondering

Have you ever thought about how a fish swims in the water? Its fins move up and down, and its body bends back and forth. It uses its whole body to move. You can try this today too, but in a different way. With a piece of paper. You will create a fish that looks like it's swimming. You can also give the fish as a gift. Maybe a friend will be happy to receive it. Or you can make several and hang them up as a little underwater world.

What you'll need

Square paper
A pair of scissors
Googly eyes or eye stickers
A glue stick

How it works

Choose a square piece of paper. Place it in front of you. Then fold one corner to the opposite corner. This creates a triangle. Press your fingers along the entire crease. Open the paper again. You now have a fold.
Take the right corner and fold it to the crease. Press the edge firmly. Do the same with the left corner. Your paper now looks like a kite. Open it again.
Fold the same corner to the opposite corner again, as in step 1. Carefully cut strips into the closed part, from the edge to the crease. Leave enough space at the top. Where you haven't cut, make a small curve.
This is the head of your fish. Carefully open your paper. Place the two uncut sides on top of each other. Glue them together. Now you can see the fish body with its 'scales'.
Glue on two eyes. You can paint them, cut them out of paper, use eye stickers, or googly eyes. Cut out a small round piece of paper and glue it in the mouth. Now your fish looks like it's about to eat something.
Cut out two small fins and a wide tail and glue them on. Look at your fish. Does it have a name? Is it swimming alone or with friends? Maybe you want to make more so they won't be lonely.
