Fresh snow is outside, and you can roll snowballs to stack them into a snowman. But why should it just stay white? With a brush, your watercolor palette, and a cup of water, you can paint a colorful snowman! This creative adventure combines nature, movement, and creativity. You make your snowman unique. While you paint, you’ll discover exciting things: How does the color look on the snow? Do the colors run? What happens when you mix them?

How it works

Find a nice spot outside with good snow. Ideally, one that is clean and firm. Build a small snowman. Roll three snowballs: a small one for the head, a medium one for the body, and a larger one for the bottom. Stack the balls on top of each other.
Get your watercolor palette, a cup of water, and a brush. Sit comfortably or kneel in front of your snowman so you can reach everything easily.
Paint and experiment. Your snowman is waiting to become colorful! Try out how the colors run on the snow. If you want, you can also paint the snow around your snowman.
Watch what happens when the color soaks into the snow. Does the color change if you use more water? Do the colors flow into each other?
Take a photo of your snowman before it melts, so you can always remember your artwork.
