All you need is some chocolate, fresh strawberries, a wooden skewer, and your hands. You'll learn not only how to melt chocolate but also how to handle a knife carefully, how to plan where each strawberry slice goes, and how to create something really beautiful with a little patience. Your flower can look perfectly round or totally wild and crazy; it's up to you. In the end, you won't just have crafted something, but also something to snack on. Or to give away. Or both. Are you ready? Then let's get started.

What you'll need

  • Washed strawberries
  • Wooden skewers or sticks
  • Chocolate
  • Heatproof bowl
  • Baking paper
  • Pot
  • Water
  • Knife
  • Spoon

How it works

  1. Prepare everything. Break the chocolate into small pieces and place them in a heatproof bowl. Fill a pot with some water and place the bowl on top, making sure it doesn't touch the water. Slowly heat the water. Stir until the chocolate is completely melted.

  2. Place a piece of baking paper on a tray. Take a spoon and make a round dollop of the melted chocolate on it. Now, place a wooden skewer on the chocolate dollop so that part of it is in the chocolate. This will be the stem of your flower.

  3. Wash your strawberries thoroughly. Then slice them thinly. They will look like little petals. Now comes your creative moment. Arrange the slices in a circle around the chocolate dollop, like a flower.

  4. Once you're happy with the arrangement, carefully place the entire tray in the fridge. Now you need to be patient again. Wait at least 30 minutes for the chocolate to harden. During this time, the chocolate and strawberries will bond, and your flower will set.

  5. When everything is nicely chilled, you can gently peel it off the paper. And then: marvel, laugh, snack, or make someone happy with it.
