What you'll need

  • A sheet of paper
  • Scissors
  • Glue
  • A pen or marker
  • A desire for a little puzzle

How it works

  1. Take the sheet of paper and cut a long strip from it. It should be about 3 centimeters wide. The longer the strip, the better your band will be. Tip: Cut carefully so that the strip is nice and straight.

  2. Hold the strip at both ends. Twist one end around once. Now glue the two ends together.

  3. Now comes the exciting part. Take a pen and place it somewhere on the band. Start drawing a line without lifting the pen. Keep going and watch what happens. Surprise: You are drawing on a single surface! Crazy, right?

  4. Now you can experiment. Cut your band in half lengthwise. What do you think will happen? Little tip: It will surprise you! Try out what happens if you cut it again.

  5. When you cut your Mobius strip, it creates a large band and not two! If you cut it again, you will get two connected circles.
