How it works

Luna is very hungry and is looking for aphids. She explains to the children that ladybugs are helpful creatures because they eat aphids and thus protect plants from damage. Search with Luna in the garden or park for aphids and observe them.
After Luna has satisfied her hunger, she looks for a safe hiding place. Luna shows the children where ladybugs like to hide and which places they prefer. Search together in the garden or park for possible hiding spots for ladybugs and discuss which place is best suited.
Luna has many friends in the garden, including bees, butterflies, and other insects. She introduces her friends to the children and tells how they interact with each other. Observe different insects in the garden together and talk about the role they play in our world.
Luna talks about her transformation that she has gone through. The children learn about the different stages in a ladybug's life: egg, larva, pupa, and adult ladybug.
Luna explains that ladybugs lay eggs on plant leaves in spring, from which larvae hatch. The larvae diligently eat aphids before they pupate. Finally, adult ladybugs emerge from the pupae.
