With your camera, you capture the tracks and go on a search online. You compare shapes, sizes, and distances. This way, you learn to observe closely and use clues. Sometimes it matches right away. Sometimes you need to investigate further. That's what makes it fun. You realize: mistakes are okay. Every attempt brings you closer. And in the end, you know more about animals, their paths, and their lives in winter.

How it works

Dress warmly and go into the snow. Take your time to look around. Do you spot any tracks? Stop and take a close look.
Take a clear photo of the track. Make sure the shape is recognizable.
How big is the track? Round or elongated? With claws or without? How far apart are the footprints?
Search online. Type in: 'Animal track in the snow' or 'Animal tracks winter'. Compare the images with your photo.
Does your track match a rabbit, bird, or deer? Read about how this animal lives. Not every track is easy. Keep at it. Research means trying, comparing, and learning. And you can do that really well.
