The smell of wood smoke tickles your nose, and the gentle flicker of the flames casts a warm glow on everything. It's going to be a special evening, as you'll try something new: S'mores Croissants! S'mores are a popular snack in the USA. Typically, marshmallows are roasted over the fire and then placed with chocolate between two cookies. What you'll need

  • Fire pit
  • Firewood
  • Lighter
  • Carving knife
  • Bucket of sand or water for extinguishing
  • Fresh croissants (one for each)
  • Large marshmallows
  • Chocolate chips
  • Long sticks or marshmallow skewers
  • Lighter

How it works

  1. Before you start, make sure an adult is present to supervise the fire. Fire is exciting but can also be dangerous. Find a safe spot. Start with small pieces of wood and gradually add larger ones until the fire is burning nicely.

  2. Prepare the croissant. Carefully cut the croissant in half, but not all the way through, so it can be opened like a sandwich.

  3. Place a few pieces of chocolate inside the croissant. The chocolate will melt from the hot marshmallow. This will be delicious!

  4. Take a long stick or a special marshmallow skewer and put a marshmallow on it. Hold it over the fire and slowly turn it so that it browns evenly on all sides. Be careful not to let it catch fire, or it will burn quickly.

  5. When your marshmallow is perfectly roasted, quickly slide it into the prepared croissant, right on top of the chocolate. Close the croissant again so that the heat from the marshmallow can melt the chocolate. Caution: The marshmallow is hot! Watch your fingers.

  6. Now it's time to enjoy your homemade S'mores Croissant! Sit comfortably by the campfire, take a bite, and let the combination of crispy croissant, melted chocolate, and gooey marshmallow melt in your mouth.

  7. I hope you have a lot of fun trying out this delicious recipe and enjoying the adventure by the campfire! Maybe you'll even come up with your own variations. Have fun and enjoy your meal!
