Tying Shoelaces
Today you will learn how to tie your shoelaces in just a few seconds. Tying shoelaces is an important skill that everyone should learn. When you can tie your shoelaces by yourself, you feel more independent. It's a great feeling to accomplish something all on your own. Additionally, practicing tying shoelaces requires patience and perseverance. You will learn that making mistakes is normal and that you get better with practice. With this simple method, known as the Ian Knot by Ian Fieggen, you'll be able to tie your shoes in no time!
What you'll need
- Shoes with shoelaces
How it works
-
Cross the shoelaces to form an X. Take the top end and pull it under the bottom end. Now pull both ends tight. You have a simple knot.
-
Hold the right shoelace with your right hand and the left shoelace with your left hand.
-
Right hand: Go under the right lace with your thumb, then with your index finger. Left hand: Go under the left lace with your index finger, then with your thumb. Now you have an 'N'.
-
Grab the lower left lace and the upper right lace with your fingers.
-
Now pull the loops tight. You did it – your shoelaces are tied!
-
Tip: It's completely normal for it to take longer at first. Keep at it and don't give up! You'll see how quickly you make progress and tie your shoelaces in no time. Good luck and have fun practicing!
