It smells like flour, a bit like vanilla, and a hint of adventure. There's a piece of dough on the table. It looks quite plain for now. But soon, the bunny workshop begins. You roll out the dough and press the bunny cookie cutter into it. Pop, a bunny appears. Then another one. Soon, a whole bunny family is sitting on the baking tray. Something exciting is happening in the oven. The bunnies are getting bigger and golden brown. After baking, they get a warm butter shower. Then they roll in sugar and vanilla sugar. And in the end, a warm, fragrant bunny is in your hand.

What you'll need

  • 250g curd
  • 80g sugar
  • 50ml milk
  • 1 egg
  • 100ml sunflower oil
  • 420g flour
  • 1 packet baking powder
  • baking tray and baking paper
  • bowl
  • pastry brush
  • kitchen scale
  • 2 packets vanilla sugar

How it works

  1. Put curd, milk, oil, sugar, and vanilla sugar in a bowl. Mix everything well. The ingredients combine into a smooth mixture. Mix flour and baking powder and add it in. Knead everything into a soft dough. If it sticks to your hands, sprinkle some flour over it.

  2. Roll out the dough on the table to about 1 to 2 cm thick. Now you have a large surface of dough in front of you.

  3. Press the bunny cookie cutter into the dough. Carefully lift it up. Place the bunny on the baking tray.

  4. Brush the bunnies with melted butter before baking. Bake the bunnies at 180 °C for about 15-20 minutes until they are golden brown.

  5. Brush the warm bunnies with melted butter right after baking. Mix sugar and one packet of vanilla sugar. Roll the buttered bunnies in it until they are covered all around with sweet sugar snow.

  6. Hold your bunny in your hand. The sugar crackles slightly. One bite, soft, warm, and sweet. Maybe you'll share one with someone.
