Recycling Riddle
Heroes needed! Planet Earth has a big trash problem, and only true recycling detectives can help. There are many different materials, and each has its own home. Can you help the waste find its way back home?
What you'll need
- Various waste products
- Different containers for:
- Glass
- Paper
- Plastic
- Organic waste
- Residual waste
- Hazardous waste
How it works
-
Save the paper. Remember, paper is made from trees. Can you find all the pieces of paper and throw them in the right container? Do it in under a minute!
-
Glass is hard and cool. It can be clear or colored. But be careful, it can also be sharp! Sort the glass bottles carefully into the glass container. Count out loud as you go.
-
Plastic can be soft or hard and comes in many shapes. Find all the plastic pieces and sort them. How many different colors of plastic can you discover?
-
Set a timer (or have someone keep track of the time) and try to sort all the waste correctly in under two minutes! Can you set a new record?
-
Try to sort the materials with your eyes closed, just by feeling. Which material can you identify best without peeking?
-
Make up a story about how a glass bottle, a piece of paper, and a plastic toy go on an adventure to be recycled again. Where would they travel? Who are their friends? Once you've completed all the tasks, you are officially a recycling detective!
