What you'll need

  • Favorite books
  • Timer
  • Paper and pen

How it works

  1. Grab a book, set a timer for 60 seconds, and read as many words as you can. How many words can you read in a minute? Knowing where you start helps you see your progress better and motivates you to keep going.

  2. Try to read a few more words each time than before. Even if you can't read 100 words per minute yet, that's totally okay. Your goal is to get a little faster and more confident each time. It's a race against yourself, and you'll see how much fun it is!

  3. Tip: Read out loud! You can hear yourself and notice if you're reading the words correctly. When you discover a new word, say it out loud and slowly. Repeat it at least 5 times until it feels easy. This way, it sticks in your mind better.

  4. Challenge yourself. Not for others, but just for you! When you see that you can read a few more words each time, it makes you really proud. Try to beat your own best time. This keeps reading exciting, and you'll keep getting better.

  5. And who knows, maybe you'll soon crack the 100 words per minute mark. You're on the right track! So, get ready for your reading adventure! It will be exciting, fun, and full of new words!
