Maybe the scissors slip or the lines get crooked, but that's okay! Learning to cut is like riding a bike: with every cut, you become more confident. Here’s a craft idea to practice cutting without getting bored. A lion's head with a wild mane! Every cut will create a strand of the mane. It not only looks cool but is also a lot of fun. And if you cut a bit off the side? No problem! Even lions have messy hair sometimes. So, ready for your own lion adventure? Grab your scissors and let’s go!

What you'll need

A piece of cardboard
A sheet of paper in your favorite color
A pair of scissors
A felt-tip pen
Glue

How it works

Take a piece of cardboard that you no longer need. Draw a round lion's head on it. Now grab the felt-tip pen: draw eyes, a nose, and a mouth. Maybe some freckles or a funny grin? Cut out the head.
Grab a sheet of paper in yellow, orange, or your favorite color. Glue the lion's head right in the center. Imagine your lion needs a really fluffy mane. Use the felt-tip pen to draw dashed lines around the head, from the head to the edge of the paper.
Now comes the exciting part! Take the scissors and cut along the lines. Each line will become a tuft of the mane. Hold the paper with one hand while you cut with the other. Always cut up to the lion's head, but not into it!
Maybe your hand shakes a little at first. No problem! A lion can also have a messy mane. Tip: You can bend the individual strands a little forward. Now the lion's mane looks alive!
