What you'll need

  • Kite
  • Snacks

How it works

  1. Practice flying your kite. Start with the wind at your back and have someone hold the kite while you slowly unwind the string. Move backward to lift the kite into the air.

  2. Let your kite soar as high as possible. Pay attention to the wind direction and strength. If the kite flies too erratically, you can try adding a tail made of fabric or string to stabilize it.

  3. Organize a kite race. A well-balanced kite with a stable shape will fly faster. Practice makes perfect, so try out different techniques!

  4. Watch the wind. Use a flag to determine the wind direction. Observe the clouds for hints of possible weather changes.

  5. Keep a flight journal. Draw sketches of your kite and note what worked well and what didn’t. This way, you can improve next time! Happy flying and clear skies!
