You can create something special for the birds in winter. Your own feeding bowls! Use empty orange, lemon, or tangerine peels and fill them with birdseed. This way, you create a great feeding spot that helps the birds when it's cold outside and food is scarce. And the best part? You can hang your homemade bowls outside and watch the birds come to eat!

What you'll need

  • Coconut fat
  • Birdseed
  • String
  • Empty peels (e.g., tangerine)

How it works

  1. Cut lemons, oranges, or tangerines in half and squeeze out the juice. The empty peels will be your molds.

  2. Melt coconut fat carefully in a pot with the help of an adult. Meanwhile, fill the empty peels with birdseed.

  3. Pour the liquid coconut fat over the birdseed in the peels with the help of an adult. Place a string in each peel so you can hang them later.

  4. Wait for the fat to solidify. Once everything is firm, you can hang the bowls outside for the birds. A great idea to help the birds in winter while having fun crafting!
