Do you know why we celebrate World Children's Day? This special day reminds us that every child in the world has unique rights, such as the right to education, health, protection, and play. It's a day to emphasize the importance of children in our world and to think about how we can better shape their future.

How it works

  1. On World Children's Day, we think about how children around the world are doing. Have you ever wondered what a day in the life of a child in another country looks like? Or what children in different parts of the world wish for their future?

  2. Write a letter to your future self. What do you wish for your future and the future of other children? Read the letters in 5 years and see which wishes and dreams from then have come true and what has changed.

  3. Ask your parents or grandparents about their childhood. How has the world changed since then? What do they wish for today's children?

  4. Or plant a tree and call it the 'Wish Tree'. Every year on World Children's Day, hang wishes for children around the world on it.

  5. Or cook a dish from another country and learn how children live there.

  6. Or read a children's book about another country and talk about the differences and similarities.

  7. Or sort out old clothes and donate them to children in need. Definitely think about the big, colorful world we live in and how we can make it better for all children. Each of us can make a difference!
