Verbs are words that tell us what someone or something does. On a farm, animals and people do many things. Here are simple exercises and tips to understand and practice verbs.

Imitate animals: Play a game where you do what the animals do. For example: 'Be a dog and bark.' Barking is the verb here because it's what the dog does.
Picture book: Take a picture book about a farm. Point to an animal and ask: 'What does the animal do?' The answer is the verb.
Tell a story: Share a short story about a farm. Then ask what the animals or people in the story did. The answers are the verbs.
Complete sentences: Say a sentence but leave out the verb and fill it in. For example: 'The pig ___ in the mud.' You could add the word 'roots' or 'plays.'
Verb hunt: Say simple words that are verbs, like 'run', 'jump', 'swim'. Then look at the farm book and find animals or people that can do that word.
Change verbs: Say a simple sentence like 'The duck swims in the pond.' Then ask what else the duck could do in the pond. You might say: 'The duck plays in the pond.' With these tips, you can learn what verbs are in a fun way.
