The Very Hungry Caterpillar, a fruity snack to make yourself
Imagine building your own little Very Hungry Caterpillar, entirely made of fruit! You only need a strawberry, a few green grapes, and a wooden skewer. The strawberry will be the head, and the grapes are the body. And the eyes? You can choose them yourself: candy eyes, raisins, chocolate drops, or whatever else you find. You decide how it looks! Is it long or short? Cheeky or friendly? In the end, you not only created a delicious snack but also something uniquely yours. Your caterpillar can go in your lunchbox, on the birthday table, or you can proudly show it to your family. And if you want, you can eat it right away, but make sure to take a quick photo first!
What you'll need
- Strawberries with leaves
- Green grapes
- Wooden skewers
- Candy eyes, raisins, chocolate drops
- Skewers as eyes
- Honey or cream cheese
How it works
-
Pick a nice, red strawberry with a fresh leaf on top. This will be the head. Now carefully insert the wooden skewer into the strawberry.
-
Now comes the body: the green grapes. Slide one grape after another onto the skewer. The more grapes, the longer your caterpillar will be.
-
Now you just need the eyes. If you have skewers with eyes – great, they fit well in the strawberry head. Or you can use candy eyes, raisins, or chocolate drops. A dab of cream cheese or honey helps with sticking.
-
And now? Your little caterpillar is ready. It looks at you friendly and is waiting to be eaten. Maybe you take it with you in your lunchbox or show it to someone first. Such a lovely snack is just joyful. While building and while snacking.
