Picking Raspberries
Imagine you are on a farm or in a garden full of raspberry bushes. All around you, the little red fruits are shining. Raspberries are not only delicious, but they are also very healthy and packed with vitamins! But picking raspberries is more than just collecting fruit. It's an experience where you can learn a lot about nature. It's exciting to run around the bushes and search for the best, ripest raspberries. Each raspberry you pick is a little achievement. And in the end, you can be proud when you bring home a basket full of delicious, freshly picked raspberries. Tip: Raspberries are usually picked in the summer. The main season for raspberries starts around June and lasts until August.
What you'll need
- Basket or bucket
- Sturdy shoes
How it works
-
Before you head out, you need a few things. Wear comfortable clothes that can get dirty. Because when picking raspberries, it can get muddy. Bring a basket or a bucket to collect your raspberries.
-
Not every raspberry bush has many fruits. Look closely at the bushes. Make sure the raspberries have a nice red color. That means they are ripe and sweet.
-
When picking raspberries, the right twist is important. Hold the raspberry between your thumb and index finger and gently pull it off. If it comes off easily, it's perfect. Be careful not to crush the fruits. Otherwise, they will leak and get mushy.
-
Grab your siblings, friends, or parents and make a little game out of it. Who can pick the biggest raspberry? Who finds the most fruits? It’s much more fun together, and you can help each other.
-
Don't forget to take small breaks while picking and enjoy the nature around you. Listen to the birds, feel the wind on your skin, and take in the scent of the plants. It's great for relaxing and enjoying the fresh air.
-
Now you have a basket full of delicious raspberries, but what will you do with them? You can enjoy raspberries in many different ways. You can eat them as they are, stir them into yogurt, or mix them with milk and muesli. Maybe you also want to make raspberry ice cream.
-
Tip: If you don't want to eat the raspberries right away, you can freeze them. This way, you can still enjoy your adventure in winter. So have fun and give it a try. The next raspberry field is waiting for you!
