What you'll need

  • Banana
  • Chocolate bar
  • Wooden skewer
  • Fire bowl
  • Firewood
  • Optional grill grate
  • Cutting board
  • Spoon
  • Grill tongs

How it works

  1. Take the banana and place it on the cutting board. Cut the peel on one side in a long 'V' shape, but not too deep! The banana should not be cut through, just the peel should open.

  2. Then gently roll the peel back on the sides and secure it with a wooden skewer or toothpick. Place the chocolate in the slit you created. You can break it into small pieces and stuff it in.

  3. Now it’s time for some heat! Carefully place the banana with the chocolate side facing up into the embers of your campfire or on a grill grate. Make sure it doesn't burn! The banana needs about 10 to 15 minutes to become soft.

  4. The banana will slowly turn black, which is normal. Use grill tongs to remove the banana from the embers. Let it cool for a moment so you don't burn your fingers. Once it has cooled a bit, you can eat the banana directly from the peel with a spoon.

  5. The warm, soft banana combined with the melted chocolate is simply heavenly! Maybe you want to share some with your friends or family? It tastes even better that way. Have fun trying it out!
